I am a postdoctoral researcher investigating how nutrition and lipid metabolism shape development, reproduction, aging, learning and memory, and brain health. During my Ph.D., I discovered that parental diets influence offspring growth and fatty acid metabolism through epigenetic regulation of desaturase genes, providing early evidence that omega-3-rich lipids during embryogenesis affect immune-related pathways. My current research examines how long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFAs) impact development, behavior, reproduction, learning and memory, and lifespan within an individual, as well as whether these effects are transmitted across generations. By linking nutritional programming during development to brain health, my work aims to uncover mechanisms that support healthy aging and contribute to the prevention of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's.
